Our Process
Let's walk through how this ghostwriting thing works so you can feel prepped and confident every step of the way.
First up - choose your ghostwriter option. You can order a 500-word
sample to make sure the voice and tone is the fit you’re looking for. Once you're
satisfied with your writer, you pay for the full project or the first installment.
Next, give your ghostwriter the goods - character profiles, genre
details, overall tone, and spice level, etc. You’ll provide a chapter-by-chapter
outline with paragraph summaries. This must be approved before writing
starts. If you need help with the outline, we offer mentoring/coaching or we offer services to have a pro
handle it for you. An effective outline is essential in the process for the writer and to keep the project on schedule.
Once your outline has a green light, your ghostwriter will start cranking out pages. You’ll have word updates week-to-week, unless something unexpected happens (a rare occurrence, and we will always be in weekly communication).
Unless you choose to pay in full upfront, you’ll pay in advance
for word sections. Our ghosts only get paid for what they write, so if a
project ends early, or is canceled for any reason, you get a refund or a credit
toward future projects for unwritten words that have already been paid for.
Refunds are not given for words that have already been written.
A few additional notes:
RUSH SCHEDULING and TURNAROUND: Our turnaround time
for up to an 80,000 word project is 8 weeks from the time your project is
scheduled to begin. If you need a quicker turnaround, we can schedule your
project with a rush fee to guarantee an earlier completion. *We offer rush
bookings of 6 week and 4 week turnaround times. **Revisions and/or requested
pauses in the project do not count toward the 8 week turnaround schedule.
Sometimes projects are completed early due to the ghost’s
schedule. There is no rush fee charged if the project is finished sooner than
scheduled.
Please ask in advance for rates and availability on rush
scheduling.
INVOICING: Most projects come
in around 10% above or below your requested word count. You'll be invoiced if the
project goes over, refunded if it falls under. All invoices will include a 5%
fee that covers expenses for your project (including paying your project
manager since there is no direct contact between clients and ghostwriters). We
find this keeps the flow of a project running smoothest.
Payment of your invoice is for the initial draft of your novel. If
there are significant changes needed due to error on the ghostwriter's part, these
changes are made at no cost. If changes are requested by you for points
or ideas not conveyed before the project began, they are not included in the original
invoicing but can be made by the ghostwriter for an additional cost. Naturally,
once the final manuscript has been turned over to you, you are free to make any
changes you wish.
NDAs: We provide non-disclosure
agreements upon request.
EDITING: Please keep in mind
that while our ghostwriters are excellent at what they do, they are human. We
recommend continuing the same process you would go through if you had written a
novel yourself: hire an editor or proofreader once your project is in your
hands. *Your ghostwriter can be hired to make or review revisions after
editing.
